Key responsibilities
As an Articling Student, you will join our Canadian Business Immigration team.

You will support complex and challenging Canadian business immigration engagements and contribute to the delivery of solutions and mobility program management for our diverse institutional clients.

We work in a high volume, fast-paced environment which promotes accelerated learning opportunities.


Accountabilities

  • Ability to gain knowledge related to Canadian business immigration categories and procedures
  • On instruction from the engagement manager, research current processing requirements and timeline at service centres/consulates etc.
  • Collect information and documentation from HR contacts and applicants leveraging established protocols and case management technology.
  • Liaising with immigration authorities and agencies.
  • Meet with lawyers to discuss questions raised by the client and then relate information back to the HR contact/applicant.
  • Conduct electronic data entry including billing and general client information in applicant tracking system.
  • Ensure that lawyers are at all times advised of client related issues.
  • Professional Development: may be required to attend seminars and professional development courses that are relevant to their area of specialty.
  • Monitoring engagement economic metrics including timely billing and collections.
  • Drafting immigration Alerts and news flashes related to recent developments in a professional and timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Registered or eligibility to register as a studentatlaw status with the Law Society of Alberta.
  • Completion or eligibility to enrol in the Practice Readiness Education Program (PREP).
  • Completion of a J.D. or LLB degree.
  • Demonstrated interest in Canadian immigration law. Prior exposure is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Adaptable to new technology and automated processes.
  • Strong attention to detail.

  • The ability to work independently in a fastpaced, dynamic teamoriented environment.
  • Ability to multitask and take on a variety of projects and manage multiple highvolume engagements.
  • High level of professionalism to handle sensitive and confidential information.
