Our Thunder Bay location in Ontario, Canada is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Administration & HR Assistant, Thunder Bay Sawmill.
Administration & HR Assistant, Thunder Bay Sawmill
The Administrative & HR Assistant reports to the Human Resources Superintendent, and is directly responsible to provide site level administrative support for Human Resources and the local sawmill management group.**
You will be a customer service superstar as you work with our employees, supervisors, potential employees, vendors and the Sawmill Team. You will also have the ability to adjust to the rapidly changing priorities working with a busy, professional team.
Your challenges:
- Perform a variety of administrative duties such as answering the phone, picking up the mail, typing and/or distributing correspondence, minutes and reports, and scheduling and arranging meetings
- Provide Human Resources support to all managers in the areas of Recruitment, Orientation, Training, Benefits, and Health & Safety
- Make necessary travel arrangements for Sawmill staff by obtaining flight, car rental and hotel reservations and prepare and submit expense reports to accounting for payment
- Inputting and extracting required information from available business systems and sharing data with key personnel
- Calculate and input hours for safety stats into database and action reports from Incite
- Conduct all office functions and administrative duties
- Coordinate schedules, appointments
- As requested, conduct ad hoc research, compile information and make recommendations
- Participate in/preparation of special assignments and analysis as initiated by the Sawmill Manager, General Manager and other Operating Managers.
- Support and ensure adherence to corporate and local policies and procedures.
Your team:
- Reporting to the Human Resources Superintendent, you will be part of a resultsoriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.
Your profile:
- Certificate in Office Administration / HR, Business Administration or equivalent.
- 35 years of work experience within an industrialized manufacturing setting.
Your skills and assets:
- Excellent interpersonal skills required, including an ability to work collaboratively within a fast paced and structured environment
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to balance priorities that meet short and longterm objectives; uses organized and efficient work methods
- Proficient analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly in Excel and PowerPoint; SAP would be an asset.
- Selfmotivated with an optimistic outlook and the ability to motivate and energize others
