Description

As a member of the patient care team, the Ward Clerk works under the direction of the Clinical Manager or delegate and fulfills a variety of functions including clerical, reception, registration, public relations, and bookings.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Graduate of a Medical Office Administration Program or Medical Terminology Course.
  • Work experience transcribing and or understanding/utilizing medical terminology
  • One year recent experience with computer software including Microsoft Office programs, with data entry experience
  • Accurate keyboarding skills with a minimum of 45 w.p.m.
  • Experience in order entry/Meditech
  • Experience and efficiency in transcribing physician orders
  • Experience in completing payroll, timesheets and scheduling staff
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient/client centred care
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to respect the confidentially of personnel and patient information
  • Compliance with confidential requirements under the Niagara Health System Privacy Policy
  • Demonstrated professional attitude while interacting with the public, patients, employees and medical staff
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Must be available for all shifts, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays
  • Consistent and regular attendance required
  • Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
