OBJECTIVE OF POSITION
You are an organized, detail-oriented individual with a proven track record delivering accurate quotes. You work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely completion of deadlines. ACCOUNTABILITIES

Project Estimation: 75%

  • Vet incoming tenders with Commercial Business Manager and Director of Sales, to determine if Durabuilt will bid/not bid.
  • Perform accurate takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Review and interpret plans, blueprints, contract requirements, and job specifications to gather a full understanding of the scope of the work to be estimated.
  • Liaise with clients as required to clarify scope of work.
  • Coordinate with sales and operations teams and assist in preparing RFI's and RFQ's.
  • Review and maintain a record of all addendums, communicating any effects it may have on the estimate.
  • Submit for engineering where required to determine feasibility of design.
  • Work closely with supply chain to ascertain purchasing costs.
  • Accurately prepare and provide formal quotation to present to the client in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Qualify where quote does not meet plans and specifications and clarify scope of work.
  • Prepare contract package for executive approval and submission, ensuring all documents are aligned and compliant with the contract.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to optimize efficiency and ensure project estimates are feasible and attainable.
  • Identify potential cost saving options.
  • Follow up with customers to establish if our bid was successful and obtain feedback to assist with future opportunities.

Project Coordination: 25%

  • Process orders and communicate order information to relevant personnel.
  • Process, document, and communicate all change orders as necessary to ensure success.
  • Issue shop drawings, samples, and other required submittals to the client team for approval.
  • Review shop drawings at every stage of the internal and client review, noting any revisions, and recommendations, and offer suggestions.
  • File project documents in all required data storage locations.
  • Coordinate job site meetings with the client and project superintendent team as requested.
  • Prepare a closeout package for substantial completion as per the contract requirements.
  • Prepare and issue Operation and Maintenance Manuals and Warranty Documents.
  • Complete projects closeout site walk, document deficiencies, and process closeout service.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Lifting and/or carrying anywhere from 0 lbs to 20 lbs.
  • Operate primarily in an office environment.
  • Project site meetings as required.
  • Use standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.
  • Flexible schedule, occasional weekend work.
  • Intermittent travel to support the HR department and attend meetings.
  • Pressure to produce tangible results and complete projects within tight timelines.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION

  • Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, Project Management, Construction Estimation.
  • DISC Assessment.
  • Clear Criminal Background Check.
  • Class 5 Driver License with Clean Driving Record.

EXPERIENCE / CAPABILITIES

  • 3+ years' experience in a Commercial Glazing Estimator or Project Coordinator role.
  • Previous experience in Commercial Construction with a focus on Commercial Glazing.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Glazing Systems would be considered an asset.
  • Strong blueprint and specification reading aptitude.
  • Solid working knowledge of building code requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in computer skills in MS Office and Excel.
  • Previous experience with Salesforce Software considered an asset.
