  • Be selfdirected, goaloriented and a team player.
  • Exhibit professionalism and sound judgment while utilizing strong problemsolving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Have experience in facilitation, consultation and conflict resolution.
  • Have the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Relevant experience in postsecondary education is considered an asset; 12 years experience in a coordinator function.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and practices.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous postsecondary educational issues.
  • Familiarity with postsecondary recruitment practices.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and privacy; ability to work with and process confidential information with discretion and sensitivity.
  • The ability to plan and execute events; oversees budgets and marketing for Indigenous events.
  • Overseeing the Indigenous Student Centre.
  • Able to create and maintain relationships with local First Nation community members.
  • Familiar with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Driver's license is required.

Indigenous Navigator to join the International Education, Global Citizenship & Student Life team. This department oversees student recruitment, transition, success, and retention through active campus-wide and community engagement, academic determination, and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion on campus.

Reporting to the Manager of International Education, Global Citizenship, and Student Life, the Indigenous Navigator is responsible for overseeing the student life cycle of Indigenous learners, beginning with recruitment and ensuring retention during their time at Keyano College.

The Indigenous Navigator will also act as a liaison to connect students to internal and external services and resources.

The Indigenous Navigator supports the success of Keyano College's Indigenous students by implementing areas in the Strategic Plan that speak directly towards their success.

They will also help ease the transition of Indigenous students into post-secondary by creating a culturally safe and accessible environment that will work towards breaking the systemic barriers that impede Indigenous learners in their post-secondary experience.
