    INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICIAN

    Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Electrician's duties and responsibilities include the following:
    Construction, installation, testing, troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of all types of steelmaking equipment including Electric Arc Furnaces; Vacuum Oxygen Refining System (VORS); Ladle Furnace; Vacuum Degas System (VDS); Vacuum Oxygen Decarburizer (VOD); Argon Oxygen Decarburizer (AOD); Billet Caster and overhead cranes

    Specifically:

    install, maintain and repair AC and DC motors, generators, transformers, circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic, magnetic and rotating amplifier control systems, control panels, instrumentation, lighting apparatus, heating apparatus, conduit, fittings, cables, wires, insulating materials, repair parts, gears, bearings, bushings, shafts, armatures, coils, slip rings, crane components, gear head drives, brake assemblies on cranes, hydraulic, graphic, electric, electronic, pneumatic instruments, etc.

    Plans details of working procedure and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical principles, wiring codes, properties of insulating and conducting materials, theory of operation of electrical control and test apparatus and the application of different types of electrical devices.

    Inspects all electrical equipment and cranes to determine material replacement needs and service requirements and reports all abnormal conditions and hazards as identified through preventive maintenance and inspection programs to the Maintenance Supervisor;

    Analysis and interpretation of blueprints, drawings, manufacturers' specifications and instructions and installations of all equipment to locate faults, determine repair or installation procedure and ascertain material needs.

    Provides maintenance services, troubleshoot and solve various technical issues as they arise throughout the plant.
    Completes all other duties as assigned.
    The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes :
    Must be a certified Electrician and holds a valid Industrial Electrician's License (309A or 442A).

    At least three years of experience working as an Industrial Electrician, preferably in a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting would be an asset.

    Willing to work rotating shifts (Sunday to Friday, days, nights, and afternoons), overtime as required and the occasional weekends.

    Knowledge of PLC Controls (Allen-Bradley) and high tension experience preferred
    Demonstrates good understanding of AC and DC motors.
    Proven trouble-shooting and diagnostic skills, mechanical aptitude and strong math skills
    Comfortable working at heights.
    Able to multi-task projects and meet production deadlines.

    Superior analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to take initiative and to work independently or as part of a team.

    Strong safety track record.

    A strong willingness to work in a fast-paced, lean environment where adaptability, innovation and hard work are valued above all else.


    • This position pays $41.27 per hour and a shift premium is paid to employees working the afternoon shift ($0.35) and ($0.55) working the night shift.
