The Manager, Fuel Consortium & Shared Services is responsible to provide oversight to all the shared services activities across the various fuel facilities and airports in Canada and USA.


Accountabilities (Responsibilities):


  • Manage all aspects of the $60 million annual budget and $1B in assets for fuel infrastructure.
  • Provide oversight to the current 16 fuel consortium in Canada and 26 in the USA. Represent Air Canada at the various Executive Committees and Annual General Meetings.
  • Manage Fuel Consortia Operations teams and ensure appropriate resources are allocated to fueling operations to minimize risks and expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with Consortia Environmental Management System and best operating practices.
  • Design strategy for fuel consortium to ensure appropriate corporate, consortium, and vendor resources are employed and financially justified.
  • Use best practices in project management to oversee, supervise and report on the various projects and initiatives approved through the fuel consortiums or other shared services initiatives. Investigate and explain any variances versus approved project budgets. Validate fuel consortium invoices and ensure proper authorization.
  • Prepare Gantt charts and budgetary summaries.
  • Provide leadership both internally and externally to coordinate the critical interface between the fuel group and North America, Maintenance, Real Estate, Corporate Safety and Quality Services, Corporate Environment, Technical Services.
  • Ensure the Company's near term and longterm security of fuel supply is maintained in a way to promote the maximum level of competition amongst fuel suppliers by designing and proposing fueling infrastructure and implementing plans by working with Corporate Real Estate, Airport.
  • Authorities, Fuel Facility Owners / Operators, Fuel Service Contractors, Other Airlines, Fueling Consortiums and external agencies as required.
  • Help the industry promote open access to infrastructure created by the consortia concept with airport and governmental entities, both domestically and internationally.
  • Manage and select service providers for the effective operation of these consortiums; work with service providers and staff to develop annual budget, preparation for annual meetings, and methods used for cost allocations.
  • Maintain and develop productive relationships with fuel suppliers, ground handlers, consortia service providers, pipelines, terminals, and airports.
  • Lead other airline representatives, airport management, fueling service providers in all aspects of the development of value enhancing long term projects that include the acquisition through leasing or financing and/or construction of fueling infrastructure (storage facilities on & off airports, pipelines, laboratory testing services).
  • Assist in the Company's longterm strategy for airside shared services.

Efforts:


  • Position requires a high level of diplomacy by managing relationships with various airlines, vendors, airport authorities and other external parties.

Working Conditions:


  • Individual can expect to spend about 4050% of their time traveling. Typical travel periods are from Mid January to early April and from Early September to early December.

Qualifications

  • University degree in the relevant field of study (Engineering Civil or Mechanical) or professional experience to support the responsibilities of this role.
  • 5 years' experience in project management or construction, PMP certification an asset.
  • Demonstrated communication (verbal and written), analytical and project management skills.
  • Employs Six Sigma, Lean, project management, change management, and other process improvement methodologies and analytics into the operations organization to accomplish business objectives.
  • Full proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and accommodate changing priorities.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to innovate.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • High degree of professionalism and discretion is essential.
  • Flexibility with work hours and occasional travel may be required.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment; work independently with mínimal supervision and within a team environment.
