Artisan Carpenter ~ Commercial Wooden Playground Elements
Full Time, Burnaby Shop

Position Overview
- Work in a controlled shop environment with access to a plethora of power tools and machinery.
- Reference shop plans, schematics and itemized orders to fabricate product.
- Work with yellow and red cedar timbers, boards and logs, as well as pressure treated boards and sheet goods to create product.
- Layout, cut, drill, process, and assemble product.
- Design and create jigs and templates to increase efficiency.
- Use counterbalance and walkiestyle forklifts around the woodshop to complete various tasks (we have a full time forklift driver training is provided before use).
- Infield (occasionally) assist with the delivery, layout, and installation.
- Assist with the arrangement and sorting of product and materials in the woodshop to maintain efficiency.
- Think ahead and provide feedback and opinions to help improve efficiency and streamline production.
- Keep notes and records of plans and processes.
- Assist with the ongoing development and growth of the department and its product.
Experience Requirements
- Several years of experience in timberframe construction is preferred, but several years of experience in any form of carpentry is welcome.
- Must have experience with reading schematics and/or shopplans.
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills & a great workethic.
- Creativity, abstract thinking, and strong critical thinking skills.
- Experience with operating forklifts and/or other machinery is a great asset.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Criminal record check (paid for by Habitat) & COVID vaccination mandatory.

We work with schools, landscape architecture firms, community groups, and municipalities on their park, playground and landscape projects. Our Location
Our office & shop is located at 3762 Napier Street in Burnaby (off of Boundary road in between First and Hastings).
Our Hours
Work hours are Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm.
OT opportunities typically available during the summer months
