The Manitoba Harm Reduction Network (MHRN) is a provincial network working towards ensuring harm reduction is universally practiced, by individuals, organizations and systems, to address STBBI and substance use.

The mandate of the MHRN is to coordinate efforts and support harm reduction within and across jurisdictions.


The MHRN recognizes the importance of decolonizing our services in the spirit of reconciliation ensuring the TRC Calls to Action are applicable within our core operational activities.



We've grown to a team of nearly 20 and we're in need of a dedicated human resource professional to support us You'll be part of our small group of admin staff at the Winnipeg office and supporting our remote team in 10 other communities around Manitoba.

What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for the operation of our human resources department and doing the "usual" human resources stuff:

  • Development, implementation, and enforcement of policy and procedure
  • Recruitment, orientation, and training
  • Benefits administration
  • Overseeing workplace health and safety
  • Providing recommendations on HRrelated issues

What we're looking for

  • Completion of a professional development program in HR, including labour degree, college diploma or other related program
  • 24 years of direct Human Resources experience
  • Decent computer skills, including experience with Gmail, Google Docs & Sheets (or Excel), HR software
  • Knowledge of income tax forms, health benefits programs, various employee leave management, retirement plans, employee stats, employment law, human rights, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Indigenous communities, and from a harm reduction, antiracist approach

Position summary


Administrator is responsible for administration of the human resource functions of the organization, including planning, organizing, directing, controlling and analyzing the operations of the Human Resources department.

Key areas of responsibility include assisting with the development and implementation of policy and procedure; recruitment, orientation and training, benefits administrator, health and safety and other areas as directed.

In addition to remaining current with all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations, this role requires the individual to adhere to and enforce all established Organizational policies and procedures.

This role further requires the individual to maintain positive relationships between the management team and employees. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.


Qualifications & experience

  • Completion of a professional development program in Human Resources, including labour degree, college diploma or other related program of study
  • 24 years of direct Human Resources experience

  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships, internal and external to the organization.
  • Ability to maintain and preserve strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft, interpret and implement policies and procedures.
  • Must be computer literate with specific experience in Microsoft Windows, Goggle Docs and Sheets (or Microsoft WORD and EXCEL); experience in Human Resource software
  • Knowledge of human resources operations.
  • Communicate effectively and diplomatically orally and in writing.
  • Proven skill to format and draft correspondence, forms, reports, and proposals.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and multitask.
