- Completion of a master's degree in psychology; a bachelor's degree in social work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention;
- A master's or bachelor's degree in occupational therapy with similar educational components;
- A bachelor's degree in nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling;
- A bachelor's degree in psychiatric nursing.
