Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Packer to join our warehouse team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for efficiently packing, loading, and preparing products for shipment while ensuring quality standards are met. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that values safety, accuracy, and teamwork. Prior warehouse experience and mechanical knowledge are highly desirable, along with familiarity with warehouse management systems and heavy equipment operation.

· Ability to lift 50 lbs throughout the day

· Package produce into boxes- stand, bend and lift for extended periods.

· Repetitive packaging of product in bags and boxes

· Excellent eye hand coordination with speed and excellent quality control

· Take initiative when switching bins for packing

· Always find a job to do and be productive

· Help with the preparing, planting and harvesting of the field work in Spring, Summer and Fall

· Help with the yard maintenance on the Farm and Farm Market

· Comply to Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) as set out in the Employer's Employee Guide and training program.

Produce Packer job duties:

1. Making boxes upstairs. (This job includes repetitive lifting, bending, pushing and pulling)

a. Grab pallet and bring to desired area.

b. Assemble boxes either on unmade box pallet or designated bench.

c. Stack made boxes on pallet.

d. Wrap pallet with plastic wrap.

e. Use pallet jack to move to storage area.

2. Packing on the apple line (this job includes lots of heavy lifting/ lifting items up high, pushing and pulling, repetitive movements)

a. Boxing– Sort and place fruit in box. Weigh box to 37lbs. remove from scale and place on designated pallet.

b. Half bin– sort and fill half bin on a rolling cart, once full enough push and or pull away from round table.

c. Bagging– sort and fill bag with fruit. Once ¾ full put into large bin.

d. #2 station– place apples into box and weigh to 32lbs. remove from scale and place on pallet.

e. Rot station – stand on one area and pick out rotten and/or bad fruit before its packed.

1. Bagging station (this job has lots of heavy lifting and repetitive movement of upper back and arms)

a. Grab bag from bin and examine.

b. Weigh bag to 5lbs

c. Close bag with kwik lok machine and place into box.

d. Once full (8 5lb bags / box) place on pallet.

1. General cleaning (depending on activity, cleaning can involve a lot of heavy lifting, repetitive movement, bending and crouching, etc.)

a. End of day clean – sweep all the floors. Clear garbage bins and dump in bin outside, dump rot buckets into large bin and rinse buckets. Place all rot and garbage bins back in designated area. Put cardboard in large bin outside. Clean bathroom.

b. Cleaning the packing line - fill 3 buckets with proper cleaning solutions. Wipe down area with cleaner, wipe again to rinse, wipe a third time with sanitizer, lastly wipe a fourth time to dry.

c. Cleaning cooler curtains – fill bucket with water. Use ladder to get up high. Wipe both sides of curtains to clear dust and debris. Repeat with all 5 doors when needed.

d. Cleaning forklifts and pallet Jacks – wipe down areas on hand contact with cleaning solution,

e. Tidy up outside – walk the perimeter of the building and clear away any garbage and debris lying around. Outside clean up becomes more excessive during summer months.

Pay: From $17.85 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
