The Opportunity:
Working under the direction of the Music Teacher, the Music Conservatory Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Music Conservatory program that offers music lessons to students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 after the regular school day.
The Assistant's responsibilities include supporting music instructors, monitoring in-person classrooms, and assisting with the tracking of teaching hours for student billing purposes.
The hours for this position can range anywhere from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday to Friday from early September to early June of each academic year.Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Assist the Music Teacher with scheduling in person sessions, ensuring that music instructors and students are informed of any changes in the instruction schedules or locations;- Ensure daily schedules are kept up to date;- Admit and check students in for their in-person lessons;- Assist with the coordination of conservatory events, including conservatory instructor reception, recitals and other performances;- Act as the primary contact for parents when lessons are canceled or need rescheduling, ensuring instructors are kept apprised of any changes;- Together with the Teacher, ensure that any school cancellation of lessons are communicated to both the instructors and the students;- Act as a technical resource should there be connectivity issues;- Provide administrative support to the program including billing (liaising with parents and the finance team), registration and communication with families and instructors.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Currently enrolled in or completed post-secondary education;- Experience working in a similar administrative capacity;- Experience working with groups of children;- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;- A keen eye for detail and a calm demeanor during stressful times and enthusiasm to contribute to the program; Experience with creating/maintaining spreadsheets and schedules;- Excellent technical, administrative and collaborative skills;- Background in music and/or teaching would be an asset.
