Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of product inspection and testing processes within the quality department.
  • Analyze and interpret data from a variety of sources to determine the effectiveness of quality programs and their impact on final product and operations.
  • Manage root cause analysis and corrective actions. Ensure timely followup and reporting is maintained for nonconformances.
  • Develop training materials, including policies and procedures to support quality and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead internal and external audit processes and promote positive relationships with external quality control agencies.
  • Monitor risk and manage risk throughout all processes to protect company reputation and assets.
  • Responsible for the development of company performance improvements that promote lean methodology and sustainable processes towards all operational areas, including manufacturing, safety, quality, delivery, cost and results.
  • Develop a strategic roadmap for change initiatives and sustainable processes and systems that track quality and operational KPIs.
  • Conduct studies and develop action plans that focus on quality improvement and best practices in TQM and optimization of manufacturing processes, resource allocation and work design, including layout of production and workflow.
  • Teach and mentor employee groups/teams on lean methodologies.
  • Support the Executive Leadership Team on the development of continuous improvement budgets and capital purchases.
  • Accountable for the efficient management and operations of the QC department and its employees.
  • Determine daily performance indicators and monitor team to achieve success.
  • Monitor and assess the staffing needs of the department and report workforce planning issues to the Executive Leadership Team and HR.
  • Facilitate and present key issues and department objectives at team meetings.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum Post Secondary Education in a related field (Quality Assurance, Operations Management, CET, CMT)
  • Engineering degree is considered an asset.
  • Certification and/or training in lean manufacturing principles (5S, Root Cause analysis, 8D, A3, value stream mapping, Kaizen, Lead Time Reduction)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working as a Quality Inspector and/or Quality Manager
  • Experience working in Operations Management considered an asset
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of the construction industry and related quality standards
  • Experience in evaluation of operational performance (efficiency/utilization)
  • Knowledgeable of Workplace Health and Safety Legislation
  • Ability to interpret customer prints, technical drawings, specifications and quality assurance standards
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills, with the ability to create organized and cohesive written materials.
  • Strong analytical skills and financial analysis for the purposes of carrying out calculations of savings and ROI
  • Ability to assess situations and make ethical decisions using sound judgement
  • Strong leadership and presentation skills
