Coquitlam Ridge Constructors is seeking experienced, team-oriented, self-motivated, and dedicated individuals to join our group as a
Carpenter Foreman.


JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Superintendent, successful Carpenter foremen are trade-qualified, craftspeople with extensive skills and experience in the field of carpentry and bridge-related construction activities who are responsible for overseeing all aspects of carpentry projects.

They ensure that their team is working efficiently and safely, they resolve any issues that may arise during the course of a project, and they make sure that everything gets done on time and to specification.


KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Planning and Scheduling

  • Understand and implement the project work plan in order to meet, or improve upon, the budget and schedule
  • Translate the detailed task requirements into a prioritized plan for individual assignments and accountabilities
  • Identify and verify that all tools and materials required by the crew are available in advance of task performance
  • Identify unforeseen needs or deficiencies in the plan/schedule and advise the Superintendent
  • Review, track, and report production results to the Superintendent daily
  • Resolve and report to the Superintendent any tasking/scheduling conflicts with other crews or contractors
  • Accountable for the production goals established for their tasks, including daily management of sitelevel documentation and timesheets

Employee Relations

  • Responsible for continual coordination with other foremen and their crews on the job site
  • Monitor, recognize, address, and resolve any interpersonal issues among the crew
  • Report to the Superintendent any potentially controversial or questionable matters
  • Proactively take actions to reinforce team building for, and development of, all workers
  • Participate in the company's Disciplinary Action process consistently and fairly
  • Support the company's efforts toward employee development through participation in companysanctioned events, initiatives, and opportunities

Quality Control

  • Actively involved in the implementation of sitelevel Health, Safety, and Environmental Protection Planning
  • Prior to commencing a task, become familiar with the Work Plan, supporting documentation, and Quality Documents
  • Monitor daily the execution of the work for quality of workmanship, ensuring that all specifications are adhered to
  • Inspect completed work, report any variance to the Superintendent, and upon receiving instructions for remediation initiate timely corrective action
  • Participation in the Quality Management System, including inspections and survey layout

Administration

  • Schedule daytoday sitelevel operations
  • Establish and maintain site files and documentation
  • Requisition supplies and equipment required for works
  • Request copy of written directives for any clientinitiated Extra Work Orders (EWO)
  • Recommend to Superintendent any personnel actions such as hiring, promotion, commendation, discipline, layoff, or dismissal
  • On a daily basis, ensure the accurate and timely completion of the following:
  • Time-card data entry via tablet-based ERP software
  • Code all delivery slips (goods receipts) and submit them to Superintendent
  • Complete and submit Daily Quantity Reports (DQR) to the Superintendent
  • Ensure operators complete and submit Daily Field Equipment Reports (DFER)
  • Foreman's log entry
  • Quality Control checklists for works underway
  • Daily Work Records for EWOs

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Qualifications

  • Familiarity with WorkSafe BC Regulations that pertain to the corporation's scope of service(s)
  • Familiarity with fundamental components of sitelevel construction drawings, specifications, and documents
  • Working understanding of the scope of trades related to bridge construction
  • Working knowledge of applicable Collective Agreements and employment standards
  • Minimum 5 years of Carpentry Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of Foreman Experience
  • Experience in Heavy Engineering Construction and bridgerelated works
  • Carpentry Trade Qualification (or demonstrated equivalent experience)
  • Level 1 occupational First Aid Certificate
  • Fall Protection Certificate
  • Rigging Certificate
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of carpentry, leadership, sitelevel communication, problemsolving, and planning
  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding, outdoor, allweather working environment, frequently at heights
  • Personal hand tools and equipment

  • Advanced site layout with GPS/LN100
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Ground Disturbance
  • Heavy Trailer Endorsement

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS ON THE ROLE/ COMPANY
This is a BC Building Trade Union position and will require membership CMAW (Carpenters Union).
