If you are an experienced, motivated and team-oriented individual, consider this exciting opportunity to join the Operational Support Services group at OCWA South Peel to lead and manage projects related to the development, implementation and continual improvement of the Agency's Quality & Environmental Management System (QEMS) and related policies and programs.

What can I expect to do in this role?:

  • Lead and manage projects and/or multi-disciplinary project teams involved in the development/revision, planning, audit/evaluation and implementation and continual improvement of OCWA's Quality & Environmental Management System (QEMS) programs, policies, and procedure for South Peel water/wastewater Treatment Facilities.
  • Coordinate and manage the development of compliance programs and strategic compliance initiatives for the QEMS, including analyzing legislation, regulations, policies, best practices, water/wastewater operational issues and risks.
  • Conduct program analysis to support accreditation, developing operational plans, QMS audits, management review meetings, action plans and negotiate external project resources.
  • Develop and foster ongoing relationships with the client, MECP, and other stakeholders to keep abreast of current trends, issues and concerns.
  • Maintain and update OCWA's Internal Audit program to ensure the continual improvement of OCWA's QEMS; participate in/conduct internal compliance and conformance audits.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the QEMS at South Peel regional hub and facility levels, identifying the need for corrective action and taking appropriate action to ensure timely achievement of deliverables.

How do I qualify?:


Knowledge:


  • Project planning, best practices and technology is required to manage complex, time sensitive and innovative programs and development projects.
  • Extensive working knowledge of the theories, principles, processes and practices of environmental management, particularly related to drinking water and wastewater management. Ability to apply
  • Knowledge to make recommendations regarding development/revision of viable drinking water/wastewater policies.

Experience, Skills and Abilities:


  • Ability to develop and recommend policy and program proposals/strategies and related documents, under the direction of the Director.
  • Good project management, leadership and time management skills are required to lead and manage multiple projects concurrently within strict timeframes. Ensure that the projects are thorough, complete, and accurate.
  • Excellent analytical, evaluative and interpersonal skills are required to develop programs which reflect sound risk assessment and management practices and principles.
  • Consulting, negotiating and customer skills are required to effectively deal with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to prepare, present and defend business cases, briefing and technical materials, lead and participate on teams, committees and working groups.
  • Experience and ability to participate and lead working groups, committees and stakeholder consultations and maintain service level agreements.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with project teams, plan activities and resources and assign work to project team.
  • Ability to climb, reach, twist/bend during site visits to facilities, when conducting facility assessments and investigations.
  • Ability to travel to worksites to collect samples as needed.
