This role sits within Laurentian Bank, a subsidiary of Laurentian Bank Financial Group.


Within the Commercial Banking Department, the incumbent is responsible for the business development of a group of commercial clients and prospects in the Eastern Quebec region, and for risk management and portfolio profitability.


Responsibilities:

Develops a business development plan for the region under his/her responsibility to develop a network of clients and prospects via the following activities:

  • Implements a direct solicitation approach to prospects/stakeholders/clients.
  • Active membership in industry associations.
  • Referrals from clients and other association stakeholders.
  • Targets the needs of clients and prospects and anticipates the evolution of their situations, recommends strategies adapted to their needs.
  • Performs preliminary risk analysis to ensure that the financing structure is consistent with the Bank's policies, programs and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the Account Analysis Manager in drafting the credit.
  • Ensures compliance with terms and conditions (credit risk control).
  • Maintains a high level of portfolio quality and performance (profitability and quality).
  • Works closely with other industry stakeholders.
  • Ensures the Bank's visibility in the industry under his responsibility by acting as a representative of the organization in order to promote the Bank's image by developing and maintaining business relationships with existing clients, potential clients and influential people, etc.
  • Performs any other duties of a similar nature or general nature as requested by his/her supervisor or required in the course of his/her duties.

Qualifications:

o University education and 3 to 5 years experience in commercial credit

o Bachelor in accounting or finance or any other relevant field

o Excellent business development skills

o Ability to work in a team

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
o Both English and French communication is an asset;

o Strong financial analysis;
o Strong analytical thinking;
o Autonomy, initiative and ability to learn from peers and oneself;
o Ability to manage multiple files in a dynamic work environment.
