    Senior Database Administrator

    Overview

    Duration: 1 Year assignment (contract)

    Client Location: Toronto (Onsite: 7.25 hours/day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday)

    Engagement Model: Professional Services Engagement – B2B (Incorporated Entities Only)

    Note on Assignment Type

    This position is provisionally Onsite, requiring 7.25 hours per calendar day between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (excluding breaks). Conditions may change based on organizational requirements and at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.

    About the Engagement

    Akkodis is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to provide operational sustainment, optimization, and architectural recommendations for large‑scale Oracle database environments supporting public sector enterprise platform. This role will also contribute to continuous improvement efforts, operational readiness, and alignment with OPS security, compliance, and enterprise‑architecture standards.

    Scope

    • Perform day‑to‑day database operations including monitoring, troubleshooting, backup/recovery review, and performance tuning.
    • Manage storage, capacity planning, database objects, user access, and security configurations.
    • Identify security gaps and implement mitigation measures such as patching, certificate renewals, and vulnerability remediation.
    • Install, configure, patch, and maintain Oracle database components for project and operational needs.

    Assignment Deliverables

    • Recommendations and implementation plan for Oracle version upgrades (11g/12c/19c).
    • Updated role descriptions related to OPS/BPS Secure and PKI OIM database sustainment.
    • Capacity planning, storage forecasting, and operational readiness documentation.
    • Change management and incident/problem resolution reports.

    Expertise Required

    Must Have:

    • 10+ years deploying and administering Oracle databases in operations environments
    • 10+ years designing, developing, deploying, and sustaining Oracle database‑based implementations
    • 5+ years supporting Oracle IAM suite databases
    • 5+ years DBA experience supporting large mission‑critical Oracle environments.

    Nice to Have:

    • Experience supporting hybrid cloud/on‑prem Oracle deployments
    • Familiarity with database security hardening, STIG compliance, or CIS Benchmarks
    • Experience conducting DR simulations and resilience testing
