    Description

    Purpose of Position:

    Maintaining and carrying our repairs to ground support equipment (GSE) including: de-icing trucks, tow tractors, forklifts, ground power units, work stands, and more.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Reporting to the Ground Equipment Crew Chief and the Manager, Systems Support & GSE, the Ground Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Provide maintenance to GSE including: a variety of vehicles and engine driven equipment, such as: de-icing trucks, ground power units, air conditioning carts, tow tractors, forklifts, and belt loaders.
  • Mechanical repairs to other equipment such as tow bars, work stands, scissor lifts, hydraulic power units and jacks, sky-check carts, AC and DC electric mobile power carts.
  • Mechanical and Electrical troubleshooting of defects.
  • Support of remote airport station equipment as required.
  • Maintain GSE stock and deal and communicate with suppliers when required.
  • Proper handling of all controlled substances and cleanliness of GSE work area.
  • Current hours are Monday to Friday, shift work could be required based on operational requirements.
  • Perform duties in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulation while giving primary consideration to personal safety, and the safety of co-workers and customers.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will have completed an Auto Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic Trade in recognized post-secondary institution, or completed a combination of work experience and industry courses in the trade.
  • A journeyman certificate is preferred.
  • A red seal certificate is preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience with aviation equipment is an asset.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain an Airport Restricted Area Pass and Airport Vehicle Operators Permit.
  • The incumbent must possess excellent communication skills, have a strong work ethic.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset, but not required.
