Reporting to the Assistant Vice President & Senior Counsel, you will be a key member of the legal team providing support to our Canadian business units by providing practical and timely legal advice on tactical and strategic business issues.

You will work closely with a group of legal professionals and business leaders on a range of wealth product matters, with a concentration on segregated fund products and group retirement products, as well as advising on services and other contracts, product development, and other areas relevant to our business.

Your work will be wide-ranging and will provide the opportunity to develop expertise in dynamic practice areas.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly accomplished team of legal professionals supporting one of Canada's leading financial services companies.


Accountabilities:


  • Support existing insurance wealth products and product development, including contract drafting, policy administration, and general internal legal support

Qualifications and Competencies:


  • Law Degree, Member in good standing of a provincial Bar
  • Minimum 35 years of relevant legal work experience (law firm or inhouse)
  • Knowledge and experience with life and health insurance products, securities or financial services an asset
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills with a practical solutionoriented approach
  • Demonstrated superior skill in legal drafting, including contracts
  • Ability to proactively bring projects to completion
  • Highly focused with attention to detail
  • Proven analytical and problemsolving skills with experience simplifying and resolving complex problems
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with experience handling multiple projects at once
  • Frenchbilingual is considered a strong asset
