IT SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA) is a dedicated not-for-profit organization that acts on behalf of the province to oversee all aspects of end-of-life processing of electronics, paint, tires and used oil materials.
Since its inception in 1992, ARMA has led the diversion of 11.6 million electronic devices, 33.9 million litres of paint, 144.5 million tires, and over 2.0 billion litres of used oil from the province's landfills.
Most recently, thanks to the organization's innovation and environmental stewardship, ARMA was appointed as the administration and oversight body for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).

Position Summary:
The Information Technology Support Technician (IT Support Technician) provides assistance to users by answering questions, solving technical problems, and helping users effectively utilize company issued computers and software.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide first-level desktop support to end-users for PC and software-related issues. Performing remote or in-person troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques.
- Escalate IT issues and requests as needed to applicable third-party Managed Services partners.
- Assist with on-boarding and off-boarding of employees.
b. Conduct technology training for new employees when applicable.
- Troubleshoot and maintain general AV setups (Displays, Microsoft Teams Room devices, Smartboards, speakers, microphones, etc.)
- Manage small IT projects as assigned from beginning to end.
- Analyze security and monitoring tools to spot underlying trends and potential issues.
- Test and evaluate new technology.
- Maintain an inventory of IT related assets used by the organization.
- Maintain IT related files according to organization records management policy.
Other Duties
- Maintains an understanding of and adheres to Alberta Recycling policies, procedures, and standards.
- Contributes to a positive and safe culture by modeling organizational values.
- Performs other job-related duties and assists other team members as required.
SUCCESS MEASURES
- ARMA Staff can efficiently complete their tasks within the office or remotely, with the support of effective IT tools and systems.
- ARMA Staff IT issues are responded to and resolved within the internal service level standards or escalated to the appropriate third-party Managed Services provider.
- ARMA IT hardware, software and devices are maintained according to ARMA's asset management and evergreening policies.
EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor's degree in computer science is preferred, equivalent work experience in the IT field and/or industry certification(s) will be considered.
- Previous experience working in a help desk or service desk environment.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint).
- Experience modifying and writing basic PowerShell commands to perform sysadmin tasks.
- Experience with VMware and Hyper-V.
- Comfortable working with various firewalls and managed switches.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Strong analytical, logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, crawl and reach in awkward locations to service and install hardware and perform other physically challenging tasks within the regular scope of an IT Support Technician.

$60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
