We are seeking a passionate and committed individual with a strong desire to serve our community members._

The Wellness Advocate is committed to exploring social detriments and barriers of health, and helping people experiencing homelessness and poverty overcome these barriers, and transition toward and maintain sustainable and healthy lifestyles.

The Wellness Advocate connects community participants with any needed external and internal resources.

The Wellness advocate will meet with new guests who come into the Health and Wellness Centre by completing the Mustard Seed General Intake form, referring new guests as quickly as possible to other internal programs, and liaise with internal and external resources that will help guests increase their assets.

The Wellness Advocate would also provide crisis intervention as necessary and support the role by building a comprehensive library and knowledge base on community resources and communicate relevant information to the Manager about interactions with guests and observed behavior.

The role also involves documenting guest interactions, guest referrals and guest progress on AVA, tracking statistics, and developing policies and procedures.

Position Type:
Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Monday to Friday

Health and Wellness Manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

BSW or Bachelor in Psychology or equivalent;
Three to five years of related working experience;
Competent in use of MS Office;
Excellent interpersonal skills;
Excellent administrative, time management and organizational skills;
Proven ability to network and build strategic partnerships
Multitasking and flexibility a must in a fastpaced environment
Selfmotivated and ability to work independently;
A demonstrated passion to be involved in ending homelessness in Alberta is essential

WORKING CONDITIONS

Time in excess of regular working hours may be required on occasion.
This position is primarily an office position.
High mental effort required to preemptively identify and assess conflict, problem solve, maintain healthy boundaries, and provide empathetic support for people facing extreme personal struggles
Access to a reliable vehicle for occasional offsite meetings and presentations (including occasional trips to Calgary)
Employment Security Check is required

Participate in all staff training (e.g. First Aid, SafeTALK, ASSIST, Nonviolence Crisis Intervention, Naloxone Training) and attend monthly general meetings and support meetings with supervisor

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a fulltime basis for anyone other than current employer
