Program Coordinator - Housing & Shelter

Sunday to Thursday OR Tuesday to Saturday 4:00 pm to 12:00 midnight


Reporting to the Manager, Housing & Shelter, a Program Coordinator 2 is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing the day-to-day activities of services at our Emergency Shelter or Second Stage Housing locations.


What you'll do

  • Plan and develop program activities and special events in consultation with the Program Manager.
  • Formulate program policies and procedures and evaluate the effectiveness of the program in consultation with the Program Manager.
  • Oversee daytoday activities of the program by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing/governance requirements are met.
  • Instruct workers on safe work practices.
  • Ensure that health and safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Supervise program staff by performing duties such as assigning work, providing feedback on performance, on the job coaching and contributing to performance evaluations.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of program staff by screening applicants, participating in interviews, completing reference checks, and making hiring recommendations.
  • Schedule program staff in accordance with program staffing requirements.
  • Provide onboarding support for new staff, and coordinate training for program staff, volunteers, and practicum students.
  • Monitor and authorize program expenditures and maintain records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Promote public awareness of and support for the program by producing promotional materials and attending community events.
  • Liaise with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals, and represent the organization or program at external events.
  • Maintain related records and statistics and produce reports as required.

What you bring

  • Completion of postsecondary education in human/social services field, plus three years recent related experience, including one year of supervisory or administrative experience. Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Successful completion of a criminal record check
  • Certification in First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or MANDT
  • Valid B.C. Driver's License and a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Flexibility and the ability to handle a diverse and complex workload.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and the ability to work under pressure and manage conflict effectively.

Salary:
From $32.79 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
