ROLE PURPOSE
Our Individualized Community Living Residential programs are designed to offer a person-centered and structured living environment for adults. These individualized residential programs focus on monitoring residents for safe community living.

The residents have the opportunity to acquire the skills needed to become responsible, independent, and contributing members of society, all within the program policies, procedures and individuals care plan.


STATUS AND CLASSIFICATION
Unionized. This position is open to applicants of all genders.

HOURS (40 HOURS PER WEEK)
Monday to Friday,

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
As a Residence Worker, Mental Health, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing input to the Program Manager and other staff in the development of appropriate care plans to help residents achieve their objectives
  • Ensuring residents adhere to the terms of their residency and are informed of facility rules
  • Offering personal care support to clients, including bathing, dressing, and toileting
  • Providing emotional support and feedback to residents and their families
  • Participating in social, recreational, employment, educational and other programs when assigned to assist residents' case/care plans
  • Serving as a positive role model for residents, delivering life skills training and appropriate behaviour management

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid class 5 driver's license
  • Personal transportation in good repair, insured for business up to $1,000,000 for liability, and suitable for client transport
  • Demonstrated ability to respond efficiently in crisis and escalated situations
  • Diploma in Social Services and one year of relevant experience, we will consider a relevant combination of education and experience
  • A background in professional or lived experience working with vulnerable populations facing multiple barriers
  • Successful completion of a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Records Check and reference checks
  • Evidence of compliance with the province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate
  • Proof of Covid19 Vaccination

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to walk up and down stairs
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform First Aid, CPR, and Naloxone administration
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Ability to complete general housekeeping duties (i.e., sweeping, mopping, wiping areas, laundry, changing light bulbs)

COMPENSATION
As Connective is a unionized environment, the starting wage is $25.95 up to $29.76 per hour. Plus benefits enrollment as per the Collective Agreement.
