ACTING AREA MANAGER - Toronto & Malton - Contract End December 2023


PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age.

PLASP operates programs in more than 240 schools providing before and after school care.

PLASP also operates 31 full-day Early Learning and Child Care Centres and six EarlyON locations for children from 0 - 6 years.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Acting Area Manager will oversee the day to day operations of multiple Extended Day Kindergarten, School Age Programs and Early Learning and Child Care Centres and/or EarlyON programs within Toronto and Malton Areas.


THE POSITION INVOLVES

  • Developing and managing multiple Extended Day Kindergarten & School Age Child Care Programs, as well as an Early Learning and Child Care Centre in the Toronto area
  • Hiring, placing and supervising area staff
  • Building strong and effective relationships with area staff, school personnel, Ministry of Education advisors, parents and children enrolled in PLASP programs

THE POSITION INVOLVES

  • Developing and managing multiple Extended Day Kindergarten & School Age Child Care Programs, as well as an Early Learning and Child Care Centre in the Toronto area
  • Hiring, placing and supervising area staff
  • Building strong and effective relationships with area staff, school personnel, Ministry of Education advisors, parents and children enrolled in PLASP programs

THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • A degree or diploma in the field of Early Childhood Education and listed as in "_Good Standing"_ with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
  • A minimum of five years previous related experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the _Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA_), licensing criteria, policies and current issues in the field of child care
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing Program Assessment Tools such as playbased learning and curriculum including _How Does Learning Happen?_ Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years and/or Toronto's _Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI)_ as well as experience using the _HighScope_ Philosophy
  • Strong supervisory, budgeting, multitasking and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Exceptional listening skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Proven ability to problem solve and resolve conflict
  • A Valid Driver's License and use of a reliable vehicle on a daily basis
  • A clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check acceptable to PLASP dated within the last six months
  • A Valid Standard First Aid with level C-CPR certificate
