Stakeholder Relations Manager

We are seeking a progressive and collaborative Stakeholder Relations Manager reporting to the Director, Communications and Stakeholder Relations.

You are accountable for the oversight of the College's Stakeholder Engagement Plan, including building and enhancing relationships with stakeholders and managing the selection and implementation of stakeholder management technology.

As a member of the Senior Management Team you contribute to the strategic direction and ongoing operational improvements of the College.


  • Develop and lead execution of a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan for the College that aligns with and advances the College's strategic priorities
  • Support Communications and Stakeholder Relations Director in government relations and outreach, including developing briefing notes, attending meetings and liaising with third party vendors, as needed
  • Select, implement and manage the stakeholder management database / CRM solution
  • Oversee the planning and execution of the Annual Meeting of Members
  • Coach, manage and mentor direct reports including recruitment and selection, training, evaluation and performance management
  • Delegate and manage the workflow of the Coordinator, Stakeholder Relations, providing guidance and directing activities to ensure deliverables meet required timelines
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Communications to manage workflow on shared projects
  • Cultivate, lead and maintain positive relationships by liaising with members, employers, community partners, educational and training institutions, relevant associations, other regulators, government and other stakeholders
  • Supporting outreach efforts with all key stakeholders to increase awareness of the sector and regulatory environment
  • Support the development, communication, analysis and reporting of member and other key stakeholder surveys and research, as needed
  • Collaborate with other College departments, and support Coordinators on the Communications and Stakeholder Relations team to develop and deliver outreach and education presentations to stakeholder groups, including educational institutions and employers
  • Support new member onboarding, including providing advice and counsel on new member communications and collateral
  • Proactively identify potential issues related to government, members and other stakeholders that could impact relationships or reputation
  • Monitor stakeholder social media and other communications to identify opportunities or issues
  • Keep up to date with applicable legislation, labour issues, sector news and professional trends and practices
  • Prepare reports for Council, Committees and others, as needed (e.g. quarterly reporting to Council, reporting for other departments, as requested)

Education, Experience and Skills:


  • Fouryear college or university program or equivalent experience
  • Communications, public relations (or other related discipline) diploma, certificate or other relevant designation
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years' experience including experience in management in a regulatory, notforprofit or public sector setting
  • Bilingualism is preferred
  • Proactive able to identify new opportunities and priorities, initiate engagement with new stakeholders, and cultivate ongoing dialogue
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Interpersonal, presentation, stakeholder relationship and management skills to engage others and build credibility
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with diverse communities, including First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples
  • Analytical, critical thinking and problemsolving skills to identify issues, mitigate against associated risk and lead to the resolution of complex issues related to stakeholders
  • Strategic thinking, planning, vision and leadership skills to work collaboratively at senior level to contribute to the development of strategic direction and lead implementation
  • Project management skills to ensure timely completion of all deliverables
  • Knowledge of materials development and event management
  • Familiarity with presentation, webinar and large event logistics on a variety of virtual platforms (Teams, Zoom, and others)
  • Familiarity with CRM or stakeholder man
