TELUS Health Care Centres is currently looking for a _Contract Laboratory Technician_ to support our Edmonton Centre.

Within this role, the technician is accountable and responsible for all areas related to screening, diagnostic testing and ensuring our clients have a friendly and positive experience.


  • This is a Temporary Full Time (contract) position with an approximate end date of August 14th, 2024._

You will be directly collaborating with other experienced and like-minded Phlebotomists while supporting other team members within the clinic.

As part of the team, you'll be a key contact person for clients, physicians, staff, suppliers and guests, this team member is the voice and face of the company in many instances.


What you'll do:


  • Performs tests and diagnostic examinations on patients including but not limited to tonometry, audiograms, visual acuity, phlebotomy, urine collection, processing and accessioning; shipping and analysis of samples
  • Conducts resting ECG's and spirometrybased pulmonary tests
  • Conducts 24hr blood pressure testing when required
  • Conducts height & weight checks
  • Documents diagnostic results in the chart and enters results manually as required
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Commits to continuous learning and becoming knowledgeable and proficient with new processes
  • Collaborates with medical, kinesiology and dietitian staff for thorough understanding of their specific needs
  • Collaborates with CSC and CCC staff in regards to client bookings, etc
  • Ensures accuracy of all communication with coworkers, suppliers and doctors' offices
  • Interacts with testing laboratories as required
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with clients, staff, suppliers and other healthcare providers in the community
  • Provides support to other staff as assigned

Qualifications:


What you bring:


  • Minimum 1 year of practical work experience in phlebotomy and performing ECG's
  • Strong knowledge of desktop computer systems and Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional organizational and customer service skills
  • Medical Laboratory Assistant Certification
  • CPR Certification

Great-to-haves:


  • Knowledge and experience working with Med Access, our Electronic Medical Record System
  • Certification in Audiometry and/or Spirometry
