Job Summary

Position:
Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA)

Vacancies: 1


Wage:
$13.60/hour - $24.39/hour

Terms of Employment:
Full-time, 30 hours - 35 hours per week

Start Date:
As soon as possible

Children's Ages: 5 years; 1 year; 2 years; 3 years; 4 years; infant (3 months-11 months); up to 12 years


Work Site Environment:

Major Responsibilities

  • Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts;
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods;
  • Maintain a neat and clean environment, including all activity and program areas, common spaces, and washrooms;
  • Submit written observation reports pertaining to the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children, to early childhood educators or supervisors;
  • Plan and organize activities for schoolage children in childcare programs before and after regular school hours;
  • Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties;
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and problems of children.

Qualifications

Languages
Fluent in English with strong communication skills, CLB 5


Education
High School


Experience
Minimum of 2 years' experience providing early childhood education, while:

  • Mandarin, Cantonese, or Hindi would be an asset;
  • Experience in creating innovative or playcentered programs would be an asset.

Security
Criminal record check


Skills and Other Requirements

  • Basic computer skills;
  • Able to assist in housekeeping;
  • Able to efficiently work with coworkers to achieve optimal results;
  • High energy and able to work under pressure;
  • Patience when working with children and toddlers;
  • Demonstrated ability in art, craft, and music is preferred

Salary:
$13.60-$24.39 per hour
