    Description

    Job Overview

    Reporting to the Manager, as the Gasfitter and Service Technician you will provide assistance to the Journeyperson Gasfitter throughout all stages of the building process. You also assist in ensuring the shop and the job sites are clean and well organized.

    Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Performing accurate, comprehensive installs, diagnosing, repairs, and maintenance of residential gas lines, air conditioners and associated equipment.
  • Collaborating with site foreman and other trades to coordinate site work activities.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings to assist in laying out gas and vent piping details. Assisting Journeyperson Gasfitter to determine and prepare materials, equipment and tools as required.
  • Testing and troubleshooting gas systems for leaks and other issues.
  • Responding quickly and efficiently to Service Calls, documenting and completing service reports as required.
  • Participating in activities at all stages of building lifecycle to ensure all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintaining general awareness and understanding of codes and regulations.
  • Working in a safe manner and complying with Star's Safety Program and relevant safety regulations.

  • Essential Requirements

  • Red Seal Gasfitter B Trade certification.
  • Provincial Gas Fitter's licence.
  • Valid driver's licence and access to reliable vehicle.
  • Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and troubleshoot issues with HVAC equipment and systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Air Conditioning Mechanic (Residential) certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience in residential construction industry is preferred.

  • Work Conditions

    You primarily work on construction job sites during regular business hours. Work has exposure to noise from equipment/machinery and occupational hazards as well as dealing with inclement weather and dust. Overtime may occasionally be required. Evening and weekend work may be required on an on-call basis.
