    The is a centralized point of command, allowing different enforcement and security services to work as one team to respond to public safety and concerns. PPS unites Conservation, Highway Patrol, and Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) Officers, Prisoner Transport and Court Security Deputy Sheriffs, and Wascana Park Community and Safety Officers and aligns Provincial Protective Services under a single organizational structure.

    The Opportunity

    The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is seeking a highly motivated Law Enforcement Analyst for the Provincial Protective Services Branch (PPS) located in Regina. Reporting to the Policy and Quality Assurance Manager, you will be part of a team providing data analysis, performance reporting, and planning services to the branch.

    In this position, you will:

  • Support ministry and sector initiatives to identify, prioritize and develop reporting requirements and standards. This includes establishing and leading working groups and providing advice and coordination on an array of initiatives to further the strategic direction of the ministry and sector;
  • Support strategic and operational planning processes to ensure alignment between strategy and operations;
  • Deliver ministry operational and strategic reporting;
  • Collect and interpret data from a variety of sources using several software tools, including GIS;
  • Develop PPS intelligence-led policing capacity through gathering data, analyzing information, and reporting on findings; and
  • Develop strong and productive partnerships with team members, other enforcement and government organizations, and stakeholders.
  • The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong problem-solving, organization and research skills;
  • Knowledge of governance structures and legislation related to public safety and security, policing operations, and techniques;
  • Experience in strategic planning and development, evaluation, monitoring and continuous improvement;
  • Understanding of police operations and reporting and accurately reference and interpret acts, regulations, policies and guidelines;
  • The ability to lead project groups comprised of individuals from other parts of the organization, other organizations and consultants and assist in the directing of assignments and tasks to ensure that the work of the group is completed;
  • Mediation, negotiation, and facilitation techniques to develop positive solutions with stakeholders;
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and thrive in an evolving organization; and
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex information to a variety of audiences.
  • Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through:

  • A Bachelor's degree in social science, police science, criminal justice, criminology, or public administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Law enforcement experience in an intelligence/analytics environment will be an asset; and
  • Geographic Information Systems experience will be an asset.
