Your opportunity:


Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Assistant to the Dean, Student Life and Equity (ADSLE) ensures the best possible student experience for the student community at Innis College in a variety of portfolios including student life, orientation and transition, leadership development, mentorship, career education, community engagement, and matters of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility for all students at Innis College.


The ADSLE develops and implements educational programs and initiatives for Innis students, including the identification of learning outcomes, pedagogical techniques, and evaluation methods.

They support strong EDI practices in the office of student life portoflio and provide direct support of equity projects at the college, such as supporting the Black Student Network, advising on needs-based awards programmes, and supporting student services in better reaching equity-deserving groups within the college community.

The incumbent works closely with the Innis College Student Society, levy groups, course unions, and clubs to ensure they are well-supported and equipped to be successful.

They are responsible for advising student leaders and providing training on a variety of topics including event planning, risk assessment, financial management, equity, diversity, and inclusion, teamwork, and conflict management.

The ADSLE works closely with the Dean to implement key priorities and objectives.

They are responsible for developing assessment tools, conducting detailed analyses, preparing reports, and communicating information to internal and external stakeholders.

The incumbent is also responsible for supervising the Student Life Coordinator and a number of casual staff and work-study students.

Although most work is conducted during weekday daytime hours, evening and weekend work is required.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or cocurricular programs and activities; implementing plans and process improvements for program and serviceactivities.
  • Conducting a detailed analysis of student feedback and learning outcomes to inform program planning activities.
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance.
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars for the community of students at Innis College.
  • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students, including international and commuter students.
  • Advising students on cocurricular, academic and personal matters incorporating personal circumstances, impacting academic success.
  • Directing the activities of a single ongoing staffappointed employee.
  • Training and coaching student life staff and student leaders.
  • Monitoring accounts for Innis College Student Life projects and/or programs.

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in a University or College academic or student academic affairs setting building partnerships and developing programs for domestic and international students at the postsecondary level.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating programming designed to support student success in higher education.
