    Job Description

    The Financial Services area provides financial stewardship and management services for the County, including financial support to all departments in the areas of accounting, finance, and budgeting.

    Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Tax Roll Clerk is responsible for all aspects related to the administering and collection of the County's property taxes. This is a temporary 12 month position.

    Duties include but not limited to:

    • Import new assessment information yearly into accounting system.
    • Verify new assessment roll balance in the tax system after the annual assessment update
    • Prepare and process the assessment changes, including cancellation of initial levy, processing new levy invoice, and reconciling the assessment changes to the total assessment.
    • Prepare and send the annual tax & assessment notices to the property owners.
    • Prepare and submit annual Grant in Place of taxes applications to the Provincial and Federal grants department.
    • Download and process land title changes and filing of document registration requests.
    • Create new property tax rolls for newly subdivided property.
    • Manage the Tax Instalment Payment Program (TIPP).
    • Work with Mortgage companies to maintain mortgage data.
    • Maintain and process School Declaration.
    • Manage the tax recovery process.
    • Other duties as required

    Qualifications

    • Business or Accounting Diploma and a minimum of three years related experience in a variety of accounting practices including experience with account analysis and reconciliation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Advanced computer experience supplemented by post-secondary training.
    • Advanced work experience in Excel.
    • Experience working for a municipality an asset
    • Previous property tax experience is an asset

    Additional Information

    This position works 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. It is Temporary Full time for 12 months and includes benefits.

    Hourly Pay: $37.76 to $44.42
