Job Summary

If you answered yes to these questions, NAV CANADA is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Workforce Planning and Analysis team.


As a Business Insight Analyst, you will be part of a diverse team who work on key initiatives focused on ensuring the organization has the right information to realize workforce planning opportunities and address challenges to support NAV CANADA's strategic objectives and long-term vision.

You will be responsible for conducting data analysis activities to deliver key performance metrics and critical insightful information to support decision making throughout Service Delivery and internal and external stakeholders.

You will collect and analyze data and input from multiple external and internal sources and organizes into actionable information.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Conceptualizes, defines and maintains core metrics pertaining to areas of workforce scheduling; establish reliable reporting for monitoring these metrics, and proactively provide insights and/or solutions based on observed trends.
  • Interpret data and information pertaining to areas of workforce scheduling to compile analyses, reports, and presentations.
  • Leading sophisticated analysis, drawing on a wide variety of data sources and advanced analytical methods, presented in a fashion that they can be communicated to a wide variety of audiences with mínimal guidance or supervision.
  • Produces analytical/intelligence reports, measuring KPI performance and assessing for actionable opportunities and insights
  • Develops conceptual frameworks regarding the design and management of data integration infrastructure for data sharing purposes.
  • Develops logical and physical data models including multidimensional data cubes, metadata definitions and models.
  • Partners with various business units to ensure data accessibility, coverage and quality.
  • Supports analytical processes such as report automation, data preparation and processing methodologies to enhance the efficiency of current best practices.
  • Translates business needs into intuitive, interactive data visualizations and selfservice analytics reports that enable relevant stakeholders to easily retrieve data, grasp key findings and concepts
Job Requirements


Education:


  • University Degree in a field such as Computer Science, Data & Analytics, Data Science, Mathematics and Statistics or an acceptable combination of other relevant education, experience, and training

Experience:


  • 58 years of relevant work experience in using Power BI and other analytical tools (DAX, SAS, SQL, R, Python) to solve practical research problems; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative research, analyzing and synthesizing results and developing various means of communicating the process and meanings of outcomes.
  • Previous experience working with a range of data and analytical concepts and methodologies, including:
  • Scenario analysis
  • Data processing automation
  • Designing datasets
  • Building data pipelines
  • Experience communicating the outcomes of complex analyses to senior management via report writing and delivery of presentations.
  • Experience building consensus among crossfunctional teams
  • Experience with operational modeling

Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of Power BI, Query Editor and other desktop software and modeling tools.
  • Working knowledge of the techniques and practices of data collection, manipulation, validation, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of reporting tools and presentation software (ex: Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of data processing and programming languages (ex: R, SQL, Python).
  • Willingness to learn about the aviation industry and Canada's Air Navigation System.

Abilities:

  • Excellent quantitative and verbal/communications skills, passionate about making sense of data using any available methods.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently manipulate data, conduct rigorous analyses, and generate actionable insights with little guidance.
  • Ability to join multiple data sets using various tooling, conduct rigorous analyses, and generate actionable insights proactively and efficiently.
