JOB SUMMARY:
The Asset Management Branch is responsible for the cost-effective management of the City's $20 billion public works infrastructure assets, carrying out or overseeing the provision of planning, analysis and needs evaluation specifications, and Request for Proposal (RFP) development, evaluation and selection.
You are responsible for managing information by maintaining databases, manipulating technical data, running queries and providing reports as required to support branch programs concerning capital planning, coordination of capital budgets, and asset management.
You also participate and provide support in various assignments related to budget development and coordination, financial reinvestment modeling, asset management policies, database management and GIS queries.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of 3 year community college diploma in Engineering Technology (Civil preferred)
Minimum of 1 year of cumulative experience related to data collection and data management, design or maintenance of municipal infrastructure, cost estimating, asset management, use of spreadsheet models, GIS and database management tools
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES:
Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with OACETT is desirable
KNOWLEDGE:
- Data management, GIS/SQL, capital budgeting and asset depreciation
- Asset management principles and processes
- Best management practices for large municipal water distribution, piped sewer, roadway, sidewalk and surface drainage networks
- Storm water management practices and technologies
- Design and construction practices, rehabilitation techniques and infrastructure performance characterization
- Maintenance/operational aspects of drinking water, wastewater and roadway facilities
- Public consultation
- Infrastructure/asset management principles
- General knowledge of policies and procedures relating to health and safety

- Research, review and synthesize critical elements from technical information, and assist in production of effective reports and presentations to a variety of audiences

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

- You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
