Position Purpose Summary:


The Street Outreach Workers are responsible for the daily operations of the street outreach program, ensuring proper procedures and health and safety standards are being followed.

The incumbents will prepare bagged lunches and distribute at prescribed locations and in accordance with The Salvation Army mission, values, and standards.

This job is part of the Canada Summer Jobs program. There are two open positions.

  • Part time Temporary
  • 30 hours per week, Monday Friday
  • Start: July 2, 2024
  • Duration: 8 weeks

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Support food preparation, packing of lunches and clean up.
  • Deliver meals and interact with clients at prescribed locations in conjunction with program requirements.
  • Be sure that all areas are cleaned, including the kitchen area and Mobile Feeding vehicle after each use, according to acceptable health standards.
  • Provide services such as free clothing and visitation on site.
  • Maintain safety practices in compliance with health and safety Report any serious health and safety infractions or problems in accordance with policies to the Community and Family Services Team Lead.
  • Report any maintenance problems, equipment, or supply needs to the Community and Family Services Team Lead.
  • Maintain accurate records and statistics and communicate them to the Community and Family Services Team Lead.
  • Communicate to the CFS Team Lead any humaninterest stories or advertising opportunities.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform some office administration tasks.
  • Perform other positionrelated duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:


  • Completion of High School.
  • Current First Aid/CPR.
  • Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Valid Saskatchewan Class "5" Driver's License preferred, but not required.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
(a) between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
(b) a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the

Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and

(c) legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

  • International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.

Experience:


  • Up to one year of related working experience would be an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience working directly with marginalized people would be an asset.

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:


  • Must provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.

  • Ability to work independently and participate as an active and responsible team member in a cooperative team environment.
