We are currently looking for an Inclusion Support Counsellor to join our team of committed professionals.

This full-time summer contract position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario's Durham location in Sudbury.

Under the leadership of the Supervisor of Recreational Programming and/or the Site Director the Inclusion Support Counsellor will work with campers, their families and support systems to ensure the camper is having a positive camp experience.

The Inclusion Support Counsellor will focus on inclusivity and positive behaviour management of the camper/participant.

The Inclusion Support Counsellor will work with the camper and the day camp staff to develop independent learning plans as needed.

This position will also provide support and coaching to staff and volunteers within the overnight and day camp programs and ensures program excellence.

LOCATION:
Sudbury, ON


RATE OF PAY:
$ $19.00 per hour


HOURS: 40 per week

Major Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the support of staff and campers in the day camp and overnight program
  • Assists with mentoring of day camp staff and volunteers
  • Provide training in behaviour management
  • Develop Independent Learning Plans as needed for campers
  • Manage camper behaviours as needed
  • Work collaboratively with Supervisor or Site Director to ensure safety and training needs are met in terms of behaviour management
  • Ensure all incident forms are filled out and filed according to YMCA procedures
  • Responsible for monitoring program registration in terms of children with identified needs
  • Responsible for facilitating the distribution of the Day Camp Parent and Staff Surveys

Qualifications:


  • Standard First Aid and CPR C certification
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a similar role
  • Experience leading children's activities and working with children with special needs
  • Experience in behaviour management
  • Positive, caring, enthusiastic, and encouraging attitude
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid knowledge of community resources
  • Bilingualism in both official languages an asset
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
