The vision and mission of the Department of Anesthesia & Perioperative Medicine is to be an internationally acclaimed academic department in anesthesia, pain management and critical care.

We strive to provide exemplary patient care and foster excellence in anesthesia delivery, research and education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and in continuing medical education at regional, national and international levels.


Responsibilities:


The Administrative Assistant will provide support for a variety of administrative tasks, which support the smooth and effective operations in the Chair/Chief's office.

The role will coordinate the Chair/Chief's daily schedule, ensuring that meetings are prioritized and scheduled based on time sensitivity and importance.

As the key contact for the Chair/Chief and Manager, Administration and Finance, the Administrative Assistant will deal with a high volume of activity that includes complex administrative matters, highly sensitive information and competing priorities, pertaining to the University and/or the London Hospitals, as well as MOHLTC, external organizations and individuals.

The Administrative Assistant will provide guidance to Department members, committees, site chiefs, residents, faculty, and staff regarding Departmental and administrative policies and procedures.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • 2-year Community College Diploma in Office Administration or related field

Experience:

  • 2 years' experience providing administrative and financial support in a business office setting

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
  • Demonstrated ability take initiative, to work independently and follow through on work assignments
  • Competency to maintain confidentiality and treat sensitive information with discretion
  • Ability to establish rapport with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
  • Ability to follow formal business practices with high attention to detail
  • Adapts readily and effectively to changing priorities and demands
  • Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the University community
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
