    Raise is hiring a Senior Pipeline Project Engineer for Our Client, one of North America's leading energy infrastructure companies with operations in natural gas, oil, and power industries throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico. This position is a one (1) year contract located in Calgary, Alberta. We are actively seeking talented professionals like you to drive these crucial initiatives forward.

    Description

    The Senior Project Engineer in this role will report to the Project Engineering Manager, and will collaborate with the Project Management team to support project development activities, including but not limited to due diligence, permitting, technical advisory services, and project management to support early stages of investment planning, through project development. The Ideal Candidate in this role will have knowledge in pipeline construction and proven knowledge and experience in the development and design of capital pipeline projects for Natural Gas Compression projects, Auxiliary Equipment, and Facilities to support the planning, design, and provide technical assurance of Pipelines.

    Accountabilities

    1. Provide Pipeline engineering technical direction and support for the design of multiple Gas Pipelines
    2. Ensure that project designs are fit-for-purpose and demonstrated to meet project development expectations (such as performance and cost) as well as technical, regulatory, environmental, commercial, safety, operating, and maintenance requirements
    3. Follow Practice of Engineering, design, and construction TC specifications and standards
    4. Work with the project team to select and onboard the providers for Detailed Design work, and then monitor and provide oversight of the engineering contractor (who is accountable for detailed design)
    5. Work closely with Development team to successfully meet quality assurance on time and on budget
    6. Technical support for fabrication, construction, and commissioning
    7. Technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring of junior staff
    8. Implement short-term and long-term solutions for mechanical integrity issues for new Pipelines and for operations
    9. Manage relationship with consultants and SME's (Subject Matter Experts) from various disciplines and other stakeholders
    10. Liaison with the project team and support groups including, Engineering, Land, Environment, Procurement, Operations, to facilitate engineering management during construction and commissioning including management of RFIs (Management of Design Changes)
    11. Assist with the review and evaluation of scope changes during construction
    12. Technically support resolution of Non-Conformances generated during construction and commissioning
    13. Review hydrostatic testing documentation
    14. Manage the engineering workflow between construction teams and project teams
    15. Provide engineering solutions that lead to effective monitoring, assessment, and management of construction hazards on pipeline assets, with consideration given for the safety and quality of the solution and life cycle costs for the program

    Required

    • 10 years of experience with a combination of Pipeline Engineering design and/or experience in the field (preferably majority of the experience is in the pipeline construction)
    • Bachelor's degree Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or other Pipeline Engineering related discipline)
    • P.Eng. designation and eligible for registration with APEGA or an equivalent governing body in Canada (Registered and in good standing)
    • Linear pipeline project experience, preferably with large diameter pipelines
    • Knowledge in drilling techniques in Canada for open cut/trenchless crossing

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Strong understanding of the engineering design process, including cross-discipline knowledge
    • Knowledge of existing infrastructure and familiarity with management systems and project delivery standards
    • Experience with small and large diameter pipelines
    • Previously demonstrated dedication to safety
    • Ability and initiative to work independently, display creativity, and exercise sound judgment
    • Demonstrated superior organizational skills and proven ability to manage projects within scope and budget
    • Skills to effectively operate in a team-oriented environment with a willingness to support team objectives
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work closely with field teams, management, third party resources, and coordinate work with other appropriate technical resources
    • Computer skills are required (Excel, Power Point, among others) to record findings, records tracking, and presentation
    • There will be occasional travel to different sites as required to support Engineering design
