Jacob Bros Construction is immediately hiring an

Estimator (Civil Construction) to estimate earthworks, utilities, and structural concrete projects.

Please note this position is located at Jacob Bros head office in South Surrey, BC. Relocation and inperson work are mandatorty requirements._

Responsibilities:

Demonstrates strong knowledge of local construction materials,techniques, subcontractors and suppliers.
Demonstrates strong understanding of first principles estimating methodology.
Prepares complete estimates for hard bid, cost plus and designbuild projects (full cycle bid process).
Analyzes specifications, proposal requirements, and related construction documentation.
Recommends potential bid strategies for competitive tender projects.
Provides technical input regarding project and contract risks.
Accurately determines scopes of work and conceptual estimates by drawing on experience, reviewing proposal specifications, drawings and attending prebid meetings.
Calculates complete takeoff of scopes of work, including material quantity requirements from engineering drawings based on first principles estimating.
Assists in review of final estimate to ensure alignment with project schedule and cost goals.
Assists with design review options and recommends best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
Identifies potential risks and assesses value.
Visits potential project sites and documents site conditions.
Recommends new approaches and ideas to drive continuous improvement within the Estimating department.
Related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated history of successful bid results in a deadline driven, fastpaced environment.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or combination of relevant experience and education.
Two (2) + years estimating experience in the civil construction industry.
Knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software or similar, familiarity with CAD and MS Project Suite.
Legally eligible to work for any employer in Canada.
