Key Responsibilities:


The health and safety specialist will provide training, consultation, guidance, and technical assistance on matters related to workplace safety and assists all lines of business in complying with safety standards.


Critical Qualifications:


  • Minimum 5 years experience in occupational health and safety with experience in risk management, process implementation, incident investigation and audits
  • Practical knowledge of the Canada Labor Code Part II, and associated regulations, as well as applicable provincial H&S legislation
  • Thorough knowledge of the risks and controls associated with working at heights in various forms (ladder work, bucket trucks, elevating platforms, etc.)
  • Experience in managing the risks associated with tools and equipment such as saws, hand tools, forklifts, and others.
  • Experience in training development/delivery (Face to Face, webinars and online design)
  • Experience in unionized and decentralized environments
  • University degree in a field related to occupational health & safety
  • Knowledge of the ISO 45001 standard

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Spoken and written fluency in French and English is essential
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Strong organizational skills and sense of responsibility
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work in a matrix team environment and to work remotely
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, initiative, flexibility and autonomy
  • Interpersonal skills that enable partnerships from all company hierarchical level
