Position Information:


The Ottawa Hospital's HR Career LIfecycle Team has an exciting opportunity for a results-oriented and client-service focused Human Resources professional.

Reporting to the Manager of Employee Services, the Officer is a key member of the Human Resources team who helps to ensure that our high standard of providing service excellence is maintained.


Responsibilities include:

  • Provides daytoday support to the HR Career Lifecycle team providing guidance and expertise on Lifecycle Management (hires, transfers, conversions, leave of absence, etc.).
  • Acts as the primary liaison with Labour Relations for guidance on Collective Agreement interpretation.
  • Identifies and reconciles gaps and inefficiencies in processes within the Lifecycle Team.
  • Facilitates group discussions within and between various departments in Human Resources, Finance, and IT to craft options and proposals for improved efficiencies to support quality improvement initiatives as well as integrated service delivery models.
  • Builds, maintains, and monitors audits to ensure data integrity and consistency.
  • Works closely with our HR Information Management Team to ensure that our Human Resources Information Systems (e.g. PeopleSoft, Excel, Office 365) are aligned with our business and operational requirements including adherence to collective agreement language and the ESA.
  • Works with our partners in IT when there are upgrades or enhancements to our systems acting as the lead in requirements gathering, design and testing and ultimately acts as a champion of change to help ensure implementations are successful.

Rotation/Shifts:

Days, 8 hour shifts.


What you will bring:


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline;
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in Human Resources;
  • Experience working with collective agreements and a strong knowledge of the Employment Standards Act;
  • Experience working with HR Information Systems (PeoleSoft, SAP, WorkDay, etc.);
  • Strong knowledge of current Human Resources principles, practices and procedures;
  • Demonstrated previous experience with quality improvement initiatives;
  • Demonstrated ability at problemsolving and critical thinking;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively manage competing deadlines and shifting priorities;
  • Sound problem solving skills and able to exercise judgement to determine, initiate and/or seek guidance in the resolution of issues;
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and facilitate people to embrace quality improvement philosophy and initiatives.

  • Proficiency in English and French oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
