Position Overview:


Verra Mobility's Canadian branch, Redflex Traffic Systems(Canada) Limited is hiring a
Mobile Speed Technician. This individual deploys Mobile Speed Enforcement Units at sites/school zones chosen by the city of Fort Saskatchewan and Verra Mobility in accordance with local laws and the operating guidelines of Verra Mobility.

The Peace Officer - Mobile Speed Technicians are responsible for conducting enforcement and set up their units in accordance with their training throughout the deployment.

This position plays an integral role in the safety and security of our communities around the nation.
This position reports to the Field Service Supervisor. The position is a full time position with paid overtime, holidays and vacation.

The role requires shifts vary between 0630 and 2000 hrs, may incur overtime on certain days and possibly weekend work.

Essential Responsibilities
:

Unit Operation


  • Deploys the mobile speed unit to enforcement sites selected by program managers with suggestion from the city officials and based on schedules provided by enforcement program.
  • Sets up equipment per operating guidelines and training.
  • Operates equipment under supervision within the guidelines of the contract and program managers.
  • Performs continuous equipment testing/monitoring and traffic flow monitoring throughout the deployment based on operating guidelines and basic training. Identifies problems associated with the radar system as they occur and takes the appropriate steps to resolve simple/basic problems. Escalates all other problems to support for resolution.
  • Prepares detailed pre and post deployment paperwork which is used for court documentation purposes.

Unit Maintenance

  • Performs routine cleaning and basic maintenance of assigned unit.
  • Apprises the supervisor of all unit and support equipment maintenance issues

Position Training Requirements

  • Successful completion of required trainings for Automated Traffic Enforcement Device operators in accordance with Alberta Automated Traffic Enforcement Training Guidelines.
  • Successfully achieve appointment as a Community Peace Officer and to abide by the Public Security Peace Officer Program.
Qualifications:


  • Must be minimum 18 years of age
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must have no criminal record or outstanding criminal charges, and successfully obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance, you must have lived in Canada for 5 years consecutively
  • Must pass preemployment background check conducted by Verra Mobility
  • Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma, IQAS or GED
  • A valid Alberta Class 5 (Non-GDL) Driver's License with acceptable driving's abstract
  • Physical ability to move the photo enforcement equipment and set up in all weather conditions
  • Physical ability to frequently lift and move up to 40 pounds.; ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Basic understanding of lap top computer usage
  • Basic understanding of cameras and photography
  • Ability to work as a team member and individually
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment
  • Solid interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Solid data entry experience and ability
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Former Peace Officer/Community Peace Officer experience is a strong asset
  • Former RCMP/Military experience is a strong asset
Schedule:


  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime
  • Weekend availability
