Under guidance by the HR Leader, the HR Rep for the Cleveland brand will be responsible for conducting and managing all day to day operations of the human resource practices and processes including in the areas of employee and labour relations, compensation, recruitment, training and development and compliance that drive organizational performance.

You will focus on delivering HR services that meet or exceed the needs of employees and enable business success as well as ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and operating procedures.

Reporting directly to the Director of HR- this position is located in Vaughan, Ontario*.


Major Accountability:

  • Effectiveness of HR and talent processes and programs
  • Maintenance, updating or implementing of HR programs
  • Management of Employee and labour relations
  • Employee recruitment, engagement and retention
  • Statutory/regulatory compliance

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead the full cycle of recruitment including advertising, screening, interviewing for open positions and reference checks as well as onboarding, orientation, retention, succession planning, and job design;
  • Develop and update employee policies and practices and educate staff in order to maintain compliance;
  • Participate in promoting a safe and healthful workplace and being a proactive voice to the health and safety priorities of the organization including supporting/managing all WSIB claims, investigations, and return to work plans and reporting to minimize the duration and resulting cost impact.
  • Promote a positive, supportive, and respectful work culture through the development of metrics and programs focusing on elements such as: Equity, Diversity & Inclusion; Employee Engagement; and Health & Wellness;
  • Support payroll process and benefits administration;
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, investigations, terminations, and offboarding;
  • Support and drive HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy;
  • Ensuring legal compliance throughout human resource management;
  • Review biweekly payroll;
  • Respond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests;
  • Promote ongoing learning and development through staff coaching and professional development planning;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - External

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree; preferably in Human Resources or related field; with a minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in HR
  • Indepth knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and independently determine and take appropriate action within defined HR policies and procedures.
  • Experienced in a manufacturing setting within a unionized environment
  • Designated CHRP preferred
  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills, strong conflict management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office including Excel
  • Ability to organize, plan, prioritize, and execute at highlevel;
  • Ability to be resourceful and flexible to meet the needs of the organization and the demands of the position; balancing the planning and implementation of longerterm strategy and problemsolving daytoday issues;
