Job Summary
The Manager, Paralympic System, and Services play a vital role in strengthening the Paralympic System in Canada.

Collaborating closely with a team, their objective is to provide expertise, guidance, and education to support highly prepared teams striving for excellence at the Parapan American and Paralympic Games.

The primary responsibility of this role is to work with individuals and groups associated with the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), including CPC members, stakeholders, and partners, to support the development of various services and programs.

These initiatives aim to address existing gaps and explore opportunities within the Paralympic system in Canada.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates, develops, and implements innovative programming and services based on identified gaps within the Canadian Paralympic Sport system.
  • Supports the implementation of programming that aligns with the CPC's strategic priorities.
  • Creates, develops, and implements programming that aligns with having best prepared teams.
  • Develops, nurtures, manages and sustains strong relationships with external sport partners and stakeholders.
  • Provides effective guidance, support and education to enhance the capacity and capability of stakeholders, members, and performance partners that align with CPC's strategic priorities.
  • Supports the development of knowledge and practice to address gaps identified through the Summer Paralympic Technical Strategy 203
  • Supports current system programming and create new programming in collaboration with the performance team in building sustainable programs for Paralympic sport development and improving the quality and quantity of the athlete, coach, and technical leader pool
  • Works with the performance team, Performance Sciences, Research and Innovation (PSRI) Advisor, Athlete Services team, and performance partners (Own The Podium, Sport Canada, Coaching Association of Canada, etc.) to identify system gaps and collaborate in finding evidencebased solutions.
  • Develops and supports, along with the Advisor PSRI, a comprehensive research strategy that is aligned with providing research solutions to address the key gaps identified by the CPC, our members, performance partners, and athletes and ensure that the research translates into resources/programs/services that are easily useable by the groups with the identified gaps.
  • Collaborates with Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network (COPSIN) and PSRI advisor to develop tailored engagement strategies unique to each COPSI that will support the development of current and future Paralympic athletes in their respective regions.
  • Supports in the implementation and development of Safe Sport programming for the various CPC Stakeholders.
  • Liaises with Athlete Services Officer to ensure services and programming align with identified gaps in the system and provide an athletecentric approach while driving bestprepared teams.
  • Reviews current programming and aligns/adapt it to support CPC's strategic priorities and ensures ongoing environment scan to validate relevance and impact for stakeholders.
  • Works with the Director, Paralympic Performance in comanaging the coordinator of Paralympic Performance and System role.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master's degree preferably in kinesiology or Sport Management, or equivalent experience in a similar position with a sport organization or as an athlete or a coach

Experience

  • 5 + years' experience working in leadership capacity in sport in Canada
  • Experience working in a National Sport Organization.
  • Experience working in Multi-Sport Games environments.
  • Experience as a Paralympian considered as an asset.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong sport technical knowledge including an understanding of the Canadian Sport system, International Olympic and Paralympic Sport System and the roles, responsibilities and pressures of athletes, coaches and NSOs.
  • Strong understanding of the IPC, other National Paralympic Committees, and other countries sport system.
