    Position Summary

    Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in Primary Care.

    In accordance with established vision and values of the Northern Health Authority, the Community Care Nurse practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a patient and family centered care model.

    Assesses, plans, organizes, implements, provides, and evaluates nursing and other services for clients in the community setting by assessing client needs, establishing patient care plans, delivering treatment and providing support and health education as required.

    Liaises with the client, caregiver, physician, health care providers and other agencies in order to arrange long-term care, nursing care, home support, or other service delivery to clients.

    Primary Care Networks are partnerships between the Divisions of Family Practice representing BC's family physicians, the regional health authorities, the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) and local community partners, along with other community providers such as nurse practitioners.

    All partners are working together in their local communities and collectively to redesign .'s primary and community care system so that it works better for patients and health-care providers.


    Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days, 08:00 to 16:00

    As of April 1, 2024 the new wage is: $ $59.52/hour

    Primary and Community Care

    Northern Health's approach to person and family-centered care involves creating health care teams, which include your doctor or nurse practitioner and other health care professionals, to provide a range of health care services.

    The quality of care increases by providing continuity of care over time and across settings and will result in better long-term health outcomes.


    Burns Lake is located in the heart of the Lakes District, an area boasting over 4800 kilometers of lake shoreline. The village has a diverse population of 2,000 residents and serves a surrounding area of approximately 13,000 residents of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako. With two of the six local First Nations communities located within municipal boundaries, Burns Lake has a strong sense of culture and incredible local talents to showcase. Housing in Burns Lake is very affordable, including lakefront property There are two K-7 schools, a K-9, a 8-12 and a 10-12 public school within the Lakes District Area. Additionally, there are two Independent Mennonite schools and one College of New Caledonia campus within the community. It is centrally located between Smithers (1.5 hrs) and Prince George (2.5 hours) for ease of access to airports VIA Rail serves Burns Lake year round and stops right in the centre of Burns Lake's downtown core.     Qualfications


    • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
    • Gerontology content, post basic course in wound care management or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
    • Post basic course in wound care management and Gerontology preferred.
    • Valid BC Driver's License.

    • Assessment and Intervention – Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/ prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
    • Communication – Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the clients, families, the public, medical staff and the members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written and computer communication means.
    • Critical Thinking – Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.
    • Human Caring and Relationship Centered Practice – Ability to promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others, sensitive to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy and social justice concerns.
    • Teaching – Ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
    • Management – Manages time and resources, implementing activities to promote cooperation among relevant others, collaboration across disciplines and related activities.
    • Leadership – Promotes staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness and risk-taking, creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self.
    • Knowledge Integration – Using factual information, prior learning and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions with relevant research-based evidence. Integrates best practice from nursing and health-related disciplines and the humanities, arts and sciences disciplines into professional practice.
    • Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer applications.
    • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
