Job Summary:
Protects the integrity and credibility of the CSA Mark by conducting factory inspections of products and processes to ensure on-going compliance with the applicable requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Performs factory inspections on certified products including review of manufacturer's Quality Control records to ensure ongoing compliance with the applicable requirements. Orders removal of CSA markings where warranted. Performs Prelicense and Routine factory inspections/audits on behalf of CSA Partners in North America.
- Reviews listings of certified equipment and applicable Notices and Informs with manufacturers and arranges for corrections and updates where necessary. Performs Initial Factory Evaluations upon request. Executes special assignments, such as special visits to factories or other locations on behalf of Audits & Investigations. Witnesses, on behalf of jobholder/engineer, tests carried out by manufacturer's personnel at factory locations, commensurate with experience and training.
- Maintains followup systems and correspondence with manufacturers, addressing outstanding issues from discussions during preceding factory visit.
- Prepares for Factory Inspection trips by gathering and reviewing all required files and documentation according to trip preparation procedures.
- Accompanies regional and foreign personnel locally, on training, as required.
Education &Experience:
- 3year Engineering Technologist diploma, or Licensed Journeyman or equivalent 7 years, including previous Inspection or Certification experience
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills; selfstarter; good decisionmaking skills and organizational skills.
- Strong conflict resolution skills to be able to handle difficult situations.
- With assistance, ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and test data.
- Computer skills
- Usage of calibrated measurement instruments, high voltage test equipment, hand tools.
- Ability to manage multiple inspection files and changing schedules and deadlines with supervision.
- Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, as well as general laboratory procedures as they relate to performing factory inspections.
