Founded in 1960, Grand Valley Fortifiers specializes in the formulation, manufacture and sale of high quality, leading-edge mineral premixes for swine, dairy, beef and poultry producers.

We create opportunities for livestock & poultry farms to be more profitable by providing innovative products, programs and services which lower feeding and livestock producers costs, maximize animal performance, and increase nutritional and commercial value of our customers products; meat, milk and eggs.

This is a permanent, full-time position based out of 486 Main Street East in Cambridge, Ontario. We run a 24-hour operation with three shifts (days, afternoons and nights). The hours for this position are Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. Please note that this role will require you to be on call.

In this role you will be responsible for operating and organizing the machinery and employees in a safe and respectable manner and be responsible for ensuring that all the duties and tasks listed below are completed in a responsible and professional manner.


What you'll do:


  • Leadership, Management and Accountability (LMA) of the Production team, at the Cambridge Ontario production facility

This will include:

  • Regular training, coaching, performance assessments and goal setting for each individual team member.
  • Scheduling of the team member.
  • Hiring, training and exiting of employees.
  • Being the first contact for employee concerns to be processed thru the correct channels and followed through to completion to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Responsible for the successful production of premixes for our customers using production software
  • Process management for batching, sequencing, flushing in compliance with CFIA requirements.
  • Ensuring the batching software and the production schedules are compliant.
  • Expert understanding and use of the Production software
  • Training of team members.
  • Ability to access and utilize reports from the production logs.
  • Responsible for Cambridge Team execution of metrics including production tonnage, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for implementing Health and safety policies, programs, procedures and creating SOPs Ensuring that Health & Safety prestart checklists are completed and filed correctly.
  • HACCP team involvement and audit participation/section ownership
  • Create, coordinate and manage all documentation for shipping and receiving along with SDS, CFIA, Ractopamine, and HACCP/FeedAssure programs. This will include learning and creating some programs as they alter or morph with time or the company sees the benefit in becoming part of.
  • Working with the SDS and QC coordinator to conduct quality checks to ensure that the products being produced meet established quality standards and specifications. Storing and cataloguing batch samples.
  • Responsible for workspace housekeeping (both physical and paperwork) and for following CFIA and HACCP/FeedAssure procedures and regulations.
  • Overseeing and being Involved in Maintenance of Production equipment
  • Proactive: Creating and executing a formal Maintenance Plan in conjunction with National Manager's strategy.
  • Reactive: As needed for production to be fully operational.
  • This may be primarily owned by a Maintenance Manager.
  • SOPs created, training and documenting developed and kept current.
  • Cambridge facility Asset understanding and able to run regular troubleshooting
  • Ability to run all equipment in the facility.
  • Contribution to frontline assessment of upcoming needs of the Cambridge production facility including Storage bins, receiving equipment, mixers, packaging equipment.
  • Facility maintenance and general management
  • Supplier contract management: snow removal, waste, uniforms etc.
  • Additional duties as needed.

Your background includes:


  • Completion of Post-Secondary education.
  • 5+ years of related operations and team management experience.
  • Experience with Production and Manufacturing software.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and organization skills.
  • General mechanical aptitude.
  • Selfstarter who can work independently.
  • Forklift operator experience.
  • Ability to read and understand technical materials.
  • Familiarity with operations within a warehouse setting, products and particular handling requirements of ingredients.
  • Must be able to lift 30 kg without restriction and complete other physical demands of the job
  • Excellent decisionmaking ability and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word).
