Katzie's Public Works team is expanding as we are looking to temporarily add a Team Lead to the group. The Katzie First Nation Public Works position works closely in the community to complete repairs to housing and yard maintenance as required for the community. The Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for ensuring the Public Works team executes work set out by the Maintenance Operations Supervisor. In addition to completion of maintenance tasks and supervision, this role is also responsible for ensuring that work is performed in a safe manner.

Interim Maintenance Operations Supervisor


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work alongside and provide guidance to Public Works crew.
  • Ensure safe work environment for Public Works team.
  • Plan and layout basic repair work.
  • Perform basic plumbing, electrical and wood framing repairs.
  • Perform minor roof repairs.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Use of common hand and power tools to make necessary repairs.
  • Troubleshoot for structural water leaks.
  • Trouble shoot building envelope leaks, siding, weatherstripping and windows. (Regarding heat loss).
  • Determine types and quantities of materials required for repair work.
  • Provide ground keeping services such as landscaping maintenance, snow removal and safety salt placement where required around
    KFN public buildings.
  • Recognize and communicate with the Supervisor on any priority projects or problems.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize, plan, and multitask with a sense of urgency.
  • Proven team lead or supervisory experience
  • Experience in general construction or skilled trade.
  • General working knowledge of common hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety possibilities and preventive measures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong customeroriented skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with the public and fellow employees.
  • High energy with a friendly positive work demeanor.
  • Values providing and receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
  • WHMIS Certification an asset
  • Able to physically perform the duties of the position including working from heights, lifting, and carrying up to 100lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

OTHER EXPECTATIONS

  • Must have a valid driver's license and ownership of a reliable vehicle.
  • Willing to be available on weekends to attend emergency maintenance calls.
  • Willing to work in all
    KFN communities.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a Valid Class 5 Driver's License, Driver's Abstract, and a reliable and safe vehicle.
