Position Overview:
As a member of the management team, you will be carrying responsibility for the property services management of all YWCA Halifax owned, leased and operated sites and real estate development which includes current projects under development and new opportunities to expand the YWCA's property portfolio.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Advanced knowledge of the concepts and theories of property development normally acquired through the completion of a Degree in Business, Building Sciences, Urban Planning, Engineering or equivalency in the area of property and real estate development or a related field, or combination of education, training and experience.
- A minimum of 5 years related facilities management and/or operations experience in the notforprofit sector at a management level.
- Advanced technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical systems, controls and equipment.
- Advanced technical knowledge of building management systems, and lifesafety systems, procedures and practices are essential.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing preventative maintenance and capital reserve plans, required.
- Thorough understanding of the financial mechanisms available to develop nonprofit housing, including knowledge of government housing programs and related legislation.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience in a multicultural, gender diverse environment.
- Knowledge of another culture/or a second language would be an asset.
- Alignment with YWCA Halifax's mission, vision and values including an understanding of and commitment to intersectional feminism.
- Knowledge and competency in working with diverse groups from an antioppressive and traumainformed framework.
- Advanced ability to research and analyze complex concepts; ability to think, strategically, to plan, organize and execute effectively.
Essential Duties of Position:
- Contributes to the development of the Association's annual budget.
- Assists in development, review, and maintenance of the Association's Risk Management Framework.
- Ensures the development, management and evaluation of all YWCA sites including security,
- Ensures that all required permits and licenses are obtained and up to date; and that accurate and up to date database/system of records and inventory are maintained for property management systems related to maintenance including the development of a preventative maintenance plan.
- Ensures efficient communication between the Department and other program stakeholders to ensure internal cooperation and a creative exchange of expertise and resources in the area of property management and maintenance.
- Collaborates in the development of strategic, comprehensive, and costeffective public relations, marketing, fundraising plans to support the programs of the Association.
- Ensures that fiscal goals are met and prepares contingency plans, as required.
