Overview:


The primary objective of this role is to achieve efficiencies of operations and other critical revenue objectives for the market area while ensuring our offering promotes service and value for our customers.

This individual attempts to maximize profitability by continuing a strategy to optimize operations, understand customer requirements, optimize pit balance, enhance key customer relationships, and embrace best practice sales and operational management tools and frameworks.

As such, a strong

team-centric attitude,

exceptional "customer service" phone etiquette and

proven capacity for digesting information quickly are required to be successful in this role.


This is a full-time seasonal position scheduled between Mon-Fri and alernating Saturday.

Responsibilities:


Safety - an overarching principle

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environment areas.
  • Participates in job observations and toolbox talks.
  • Maintains documentation on safety drills, exercises, tool box talks and training for Lafarge and Transport Canada reporting requirements.

Order Processing

  • Liaises with customer site representatives to facilitate schedules and activities. Communicates loading and material movement to all stakeholders.
  • Answers customer calls, updating them on order status, truck locations, approximate ETAs and other queries
  • Assists team in building solid relationships with key existing and potential customers.
  • Works closely with other relevant Lafarge product lines (i.e. ready mix, asphalt and paving) to ensure there is a consistent and effective offering to the customer and all potential synergies are maximized.
  • Some pricing and quoting for smaller customers
  • Dispatches trucks on time, ensuring the correct aggregate material and customer requirements are met
  • Maintains contact with drivers and assist with directions or addresses as required.
  • Resolves or assists with any issues or inquiries involving deliveries, trucks, customers, and/or materials
  • Manages cash sale customers, ensuring quality customer service

Logistics

  • Coordinates hauling assets, assists and shifts through external suppliers and maintains accurate records for cost management purposes.
  • Coordinate day to day direction with remote scale personnel.
  • Track truck movements; maintain attendance records and general reporting as required.

Relationship with Other Employees and Departments:
Working in a team environment is critical.

On a daily basis you will be dealing with a cross section of people from the following segments:


  • Customers including large and small operations
  • Sales including large and small market segments
  • Operational and field personnel such as drivers, quality control specialists, plant operators, managers

Scehdule:


  • Monday
  • Friday, 10 hrs a day, and every second Saturday during peak season between May
  • October.

Qualifications:

Education:


  • Post-Secondary diploma in a related field (Business or Logistics) or the equivalent of education and experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • Commitment to a Safety Culture
  • Strong interpersonal phone skills (incl. friendly and courteous attitude, ability to communicate clearly, explain issues and propose solutions to customers when required)
  • Exceptional listening skills
  • Effective negotiation, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong time management skills and ability to perform several tasks at once
  • Ability to work well under pressure with rapidly changing customer priorities and changing pieces of information
  • Competency with all Microsoft Office and general native PC programs
  • Knowledge of local market geography and addresses
  • Proficient typing and data entering skills
  • Knowledgeable about aggregate production, materials, plants and load out is an asset

  • Open to a flexible working schedule (weekends included)
  • Be a team player and work well with others in highpressure situations.
  • A positive and helpful attitude
  • Familiarity with construction and construction sites in general, aggregate products in general, and industry terms and slang are desired
  • Dependability, especially around attendance is mandatory
