Hello,
I am beginning the conceptual design phase for a custom rural residence and equestrian compound located in Pahrump, Nevada, and am looking to engage an architect or architectural designer to develop an initial concept package that will later be refined into final construction documents by my primary architect.
Project Overview
The project is a contemporary ranch residence inspired by Brazilian modernist architecture, particularly the spatial logic of the Coudelaria project by Arthur Casas.
The design should emphasize calm, horizontal geometry, strong indoor-outdoor continuity, and a close architectural relationship between the house and equestrian elements.

Main House Target Size
Approximately 3,200–3,500 square feet total, including a second-floor private owner suite.
Design Objectives
- Strong horizontal architectural expression
- Rectilinear, modern geometry with restrained detailing
- Minimal interior walls and elimination of traditional corridors
- Open-plan living, dining, and kitchen forming a continuous primary space
- Continuous covered outdoor terrace connected directly to main living areas
- Courtyard or light-regulating architectural void integrated into plan
- Strong visual and spatial relationship to horse stables and paddocks
- Calm, intentional, and minimal architectural composition
Ground Floor (approx. 2,200–2,500 sq ft)
- Open living, dining, and kitchen space (fully integrated, 2 large island)
- Kitchen positioned with primary wall counter on left side of plan with a window providing property views
- Two additional kitchen counters or prep zones
- Two bedrooms located on right side of house
- 2 car garage located on right side
- Laundry and storage located on right side near garage
- Guest powder room
- Office or flexible workspace near entry but visually discreet
- Direct connection to covered terrace and outdoor space
- No central hallway — circulation through open spatial flow
- Pool
- Primary bedroom suite
- Spa-style bathroom
- Walk-in closet
- Private office/lybrary or quiet workspace (hidden)
- Meditation or quiet room
- Large private terrace
- This level should feel private, calm, and introspective
- Detached casita (~1,000 sq ft)
- Linear horse stables (5–10 stalls) aligned with main architectural axis
- Covered horse circulation walkway
- Overall site organization aligned along a dominant horizontal axis
The property is flat desert land in Pahrump, Nevada, with wide open views to the city and mountains.
The architecture should respond to sun orientation, shade creation (very important due to extreme heat), and natural ventilation appropriate for desert climate and ensure that views are also prioritized.
Deliverables RequestedFor this phase, I am seeking conceptual architectural drawings including:
- Dimensioned 2D floor plans (ground and upper level)
- Basic site plan showing relationship between house, casita, and stables
- Elevations showing architectural proportions and massing
- Optional simple 3D massing model (if available)
Purpose of This Work
This concept package will be used as the design foundation for my primary architect to refine into full construction documents and engineering drawings.
